Offshore Naval Architects (ONA) provided dynamic positioning risk engineering and support for installation of the 1650 metric ton water handling module for client Woodside on the Woodside-operated Pluto Alpha offshore platform in Australia.
The module was fabricated by the MMHE yard in Johor, Malaysia and was picked up by the Heerema Aegir from the quay and transported to the Woodside operated Pluto field and completed the installation within 4 hours. The Pluto field is located 190 kilometers northwest of Karratha, Western Australia, in 85 meters of water.
ONA has a long-established DP engineering and operational specialist capability on top of other high risk DP operational scopes including North Rankin B (NRB) and Goodwyn Alpha for Woodside.
In this instance ONA was able to provide simulation of DP failure scenarios across all historical and potential future Metocean cases and offer high fidelity risk assurance support for associated facility operational considerations. Much progress on earlier work scopes was achieved by new staff utilizing Python in the post processing of the huge number load case runs.
The work in association with new actual Aegir DP simulation techniques offered considerable insight to field specific ASOG mitigation and other operation considerations. For more information, please contact ONA at operations@onaconsultants.com.au
