ONA recently completed a concept cradle design for slipping pilot boats and other craft on an isolated slipway in Australia’s North. The slip cradles were initially designed to be compliant with a specific vessel docking plan which due to the vessel length, necessitated significant support capacity along its keel.
To enable smaller boat slipping the cradle was broken up into two cars with a joining hitch whereby a single cradle only could be used for smaller boats. Similarly the hitch is adjustable to enable berthing of longer boats.
The cradles were designed to be fabricated in galvanised steel components to be shipped and assembled on site using mostly bolted connections. The vessel is supported using keel blocks and articulating side arms for ease of dockmaster management.
Consider ONA for your next slipway cradle or slipping system design.
